Door Knocker Ring – Ebony & Bone

We’ve always loved door knockers, especially the ones encountered when living in London. Time worn and patinated, they possess a cool ambience and invite interaction on the part of the visitor. Whether ornate or simple, the result of rapping this purpose-made hardware against a big heavy wood door is really satisfying.

With that in mind, we’ve designed this large door knocker ring, which presents its own contrasting ambience. Using traditional woodworking techniques, the mini ebony “gemstone” is turned on the lathe and set back-to-back with a creamy white piece of bone. The movement of the knocker is dramatic, rapping against the knuckles with every wave of the hand. If you’re the superstitious type, you can also knock on the ebony wood.
