Skeleton Signet Ring – Round
General Notes
Dating back to ancient Mesopotamia when they were used as a method of authenticating, the function of signets was originally as a signature (from the Latin ‘signum’ meaning token or seal) and, when pressed into clay or hot wax, would reveal the name, identification or affiliation of the wearer. Highly personal, each ring was inscribed with family heraldry, initials or symbols.
The SSR-R is a modern interpretation of the traditional signet, distilled to its essence. Echoing the structure of a signet but without identifying marks, these rings are the skeletons of the typical form, minus the elitism with which they were most often associated. A passion for minimalism and pure geometries informs the design of this unisex ring, available in two finish options.
Available for immediate shipping in polished silver in sizes 6, 7 & 8 US and in rhodium plated size 8 US. Please allow 4-6 weeks for all other sizes.
Additional Notes
As part of our Reinvented Signet Series, this ring can be used to seal documents, envelopes or other personal writings by pressing into molten wax. We appreciate the fact that the technology which necessitated its invention thousands of years ago is still alive and well today.
